Meet MICHELLE
at a glance:I love to help people be a little kinder to themselves and approach their own lives with some curiosity and openness. I work with my clients to uncover and recognize patterns in their thoughts, feelings, and actions so they can learn more about themselves and resolve underlying wounds.

I have lots of different interests, but here are some folks I particularly love working with:
- College students and those living the post-grad life who are thinking, “Now what?”
- Parents of young kids, especially those who took a “non-traditional” path to parenthood (e.g., adoptive parents, single-by-choice parents, LGBTQ+ parents)
- Moms who wonder if they might have ADHD
- People who have experienced trauma and want to work through it
- Folks who are struggling with their own self-worth, identity, and purpose
- Adults and teens who want to find greater calm and stillness in their minds and bodies (learn more about my work with anxiety here).
a closer look:
Life is hard. There is so much pressure to balance all the different roles in our lives—parent, partner, friend, student, employee, person—so it’s easy to feel burnt out and over it. You might be feeling simultaneously exhausted and bored, lonely and avoidant. You might be feeling unmotivated, uninspired, and stuck.
In my practice, I work with a lot of folks who tell themselves, “maybe I’m just not good enough” and “maybe if I just work a little harder…” I can help you to learn to practice self-compassion and recognize your emotions in their mind and body. We can also examine how past patterns might be repeating so you can make decisions armed with this new knowledge.
I am warm, informal, and straightforward, and I want to help you learn more about yourself and live a life full of meaning.

OBjects in the rearview mirror:
Here's a few more things to know about me and my background:
- I have a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus.
- I have completed a two-day certificate training called Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care from Postpartum Support International.
- I am working on Level 1 of a Complex Trauma Certification Training program to further my knowledge of working with people who have experienced ongoing trauma.
- I also hold a PhD in English from the University of Connecticut—I really like school! I have taught literature and writing for many years and also worked as an academic advisor before transitioning to counseling.
- My favorite things to do include reading, watching good TV and movies, listening to music and going to concerts, talking about books and TV and movies and music with loved ones, writing, and watching Liverpool FC.
- When I was little, I wanted to be a rock star, a journalist for Rolling Stone, and a teacher. In that order.
- I have synesthesia, which is when someone’s senses overlap. For me, it means that I see colors in my mind when I see or think of numbers. (Just so you know, 7 is always green, and 8 is always red.)
