premarital & early marital counseling

Welcome to

Invest in your relationship and lay the groundwork for a lifelong connection with personalized early relationship counseling.

There’s nothing quite like the excitement of finding a partner you’re interested in building a life with! Whether you’re engaged, in the first few years of marriage, or discerning whether commitment is the next step, early relationship counseling can help you learn about yourselves and your particular relationship dynamics, gain vital communication
skills, and clarify a vision for your shared future.

I’m Hannah Boggs-Nieman, LMFTA, and I love working with couples at the beginning of a commitment because I believe that our most intimate relationships deeply impact our lives and that participating in counseling early in a partnership can set a couple up for long-term relationship success.

Support Is Here

The tools, experiences, and insights that early relationship counseling can provide serve a two-fold purpose:

1) working through common areas of struggle for couples before they become major conflicts and 2) preparing partners to meet head-on issues that may arise months or years later.

Perhaps you’re curious about how a third-party professional perspective could strengthen your relationship and draw attention to any growth opportunities that you may have overlooked. Or maybe you have a wonderful relationship but have a handful of concerns you’d like to address before taking the plunge. Perhaps you’re anxious you may someday fall into the same hurtful communication patterns you experienced in your own families. Whatever your motivations, I'm here to help you move forward in your relationship with confidence and clarity.

Early relationship counseling is a bit like establishing care with a primary care provider,
except, instead of attending to your physical health, you’re caring for the health of your
primary relationship. It’s an opportunity to get ahead of potential problems and build a
trusting relationship with a therapist with whom you can connect later, whether you’re
someday seeking guidance around relationship difficulties or support in navigating
complex life transitions - such as becoming parents or navigating relationships with your
own parents as they age.
